RITUEL Todoroki, a French restaurant located in Todoroki, Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, is a hidden gem just a 5-minute walk from the Tokyu Oimachi Line's Todoroki Station. Situated in a quiet residential area, it is also easily accessible by car, with several coin parking lots located nearby. The exterior of the restaurant boasts a modern design with a calm gray color scheme, and its large windows offer a glimpse of the warm atmosphere inside.

Coffee and post-meal scene

As soon as you step into the store, the first thing you'll notice is the interior that exudes a sense of warmth from the wood. The counter seats and table seats are well-balanced, making it suitable for a wide range of occasions, from solo dining to dates and meals with friends. Indirect lighting is used throughout, creating a calm atmosphere. Wine bottles are displayed on the walls, suggesting a comprehensive wine list carefully selected by the sommelier.

I visited around 1 p.m. on a weekday, and it was already bustling with local ladies. It's reservation-only on weekends, so I recommend calling ahead to confirm. All the staff were polite, and despite being a French restaurant, it wasn't stuffy, allowing for a relaxed dining experience.

For today's lunch, I chose the "All-You-Can-Eat Bread Plan." This plan allows you to select a main dish: pasta, fish, or meat, and this time I went with pasta. The first thing served is a warm bread basket. It comes with baguette, focaccia, rye bread, and a set of olive oil and balsamic vinegar. The bread is replenished regularly and refills are free, so I can't help but reach for more.

The pasta was the "Pasta of the Day," which was a tomato-based seafood pasta. It was generously filled with shrimp, mussels, and squid, and the tomato sauce had a perfect balance of acidity and sweetness. The noodles were cooked al dente and coated well with the sauce. One bite filled my mouth with a scent of the sea and the tanginess of the tomato, making it a very satisfying dish.

For dessert after the meal, I ordered the "Dessert Plate of the Day," which is an additional 500 yen. Today's plate featured crème brûlée and a medley of seasonal fruits. The crème brûlée had a crisp, caramelized surface and a smooth, creamy interior. The aroma of vanilla beans was rich, and it was the perfect palate cleanser after the meal.

Coffee or tea is served free after the meal. Today's selection is a single origin from Ethiopia. It has a fruity flavor with a prominent acidity, which paired well with the after-meal dessert.

The total bill, excluding tax, comes to 3,100 yen. This includes the all-you-can-eat bread plan (1,800 yen), pasta set (+500 yen), dessert plate (+500 yen), and drink bar (+300 yen). I felt this was a reasonable price for a French restaurant in Tokyo. Considering the all-you-can-eat bread, I think the cost performance is quite good.

While there are other restaurants around Todoroki Station, the combination of French cuisine and an all-you-can-eat bread service is quite unique. Being located in a residential area, it gives the strong impression of being a place truly loved by locals rather than tourists. It seems to be bustling with families and couples on weekends, and on weekdays, it has established itself as a lunch spot for people working nearby and housewives.

Next time, I'd like to visit during dinner time and try the meat or fish courses. In particular, the chef's recommended course (5,500 yen) has 7 courses from appetizer to dessert using seasonal ingredients, and they also offer wine pairing consultations, so it seems suitable for special occasions.
